Business Summit held between India and Tanzania

Noida: The India-Tanzania symposium was organised on October 12, 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Noida. This business seminar and road show was organised in collaboration with TIC (Tanzania Investment Centre), the High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania, MARS (Marketing Assistance and Research Support), and the Indian Industries Association (IIA).

The main objective of this seminar was:
to promote bilateral relations and partnerships between Tanzanian and Indian businesses.
to provide information about investment opportunities and business prospects in Tanzania.
to provide a full opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange among the participants.
Mrs. Rekha Sharma (Chairperson External Affairs, IIA, Founder and Secretary General of MARS (Marketing Assistance and Research Support), Nigeria-India Business Council) has been visiting many countries in Africa over the years, including Burundi, Rwanda, the DRC, Malawi, Zambia, and Uganda. She has been engaged in creating safe business opportunities for Indian investors on a large scale. She has done a lot of research on investment in Africa, and she said that Tanzania is an attractive place for investment in Africa due to its abundant natural resources. Resources, a skilled workforce, a booming investor-friendly environment, political stability, peace, and security, strict adherence to the rule of law and good governance, and hospitable and friendly locals make Tanzania an ideal investment destination. Tanzania is currently the top FDI recipient in East Africa. The government is fully dedicated to improving the investment climate. Private sector development is a high priority for the government. The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) is the primary agency of the government and was present at the symposium to coordinate, promote, facilitate, and advise on investment and investment policy matters.
The conference highlighted the following existing Tanzanian investment opportunities for the Indian business community in various sectors:
• Cultivation and processing of various agricultural products (processing of edible oil from sugarcane, cashew, cotton, sunflower, sesame, cotton seeds, groundnut, palm oil, etc.), fruits and vegetables for the export market,
• Fishing and fish processing,
• Livestock value chain,
• mining and mineral processing,
• Woodworking,
• Manufacturing of pharmaceutical products and medical devices ,
• Tourism, ICT,
• basic infrastructure,
• Housing, banks, finance, and business in general

On this occasion, Mr. Gilead J. Terry, Executive Director of TIC (Tanzania Investment Centre), and Mr. Neeraj Singhal, National President of the Indian Industries Association, were welcomed as chief and special guests. The seminar started with a welcome address by Shri Rajeev Bansal, Vice President, Indian Industries Association (IIA). Mr. Sameer Santosh, Managing Director, Kamal Group of Industries; Mr. Satish Purandare, Managing Director, Purandare Industries, Republic of Tanzania; and Mr. Ravi Mittal gave industry-related presentations and gave suggestions to the participants for investing in Tanzania and Africa.

On behalf of Tanzania, Gilead Terry, DG Tanzania Investment Centre, Latifa Kigoda, TIC Senior Investment Officer, Mr. Yusuf Manji-Kamaka, Angela Leela Mangu-Kamaka, and Panduka Josiah Yonazi, EPZA, Barry Shale, Sinotan, Halima Vagao, Mr. Dev Dotto India, Head of Chancery High Commission of Tanzania, and Her Excellency Ambassador Anissa Mbega, High Commissioner of Tanzania, were prominently present. In the coming time, better business relations will be formed between India and Africa. The idea of progress without opportunity is like writing on air. The organisation of this seminar, which provides business opportunities, was successful. The symposium concluded with the announcement that the visit of the Tanzanian delegation to India with the President of Tanzania from September 8–11, 2023, was an encouraging one from an investment point of view. Tanzanian government officials and industry representatives from the private business sector are here to explore and promote business opportunities in collaboration with the assistance of the Tanzania Investment Centre, the MARS Association, and IIA. The same business forum and road show will be organised in Surat on October 13 and 14, 2023, and in Hyderabad on October 15, 2023. Expressing hope for a wonderful trade relationship between India and Africa, the honourable guests and participants were thanked.
